Changing the Course of Care
Challenging the MRI results. A knee evaluation.
23-year old female soccer player complained of “catching & locking” intermittently. The MRI reported no visible damage or abnormalities. The VSI procedure identified a fully intact meniscus, and – undetectable on the MRI report – two loose cartilaginous bodies and a focal grade 4 chondral defect (assumed donor site of loose bodies). A treatment plan – corrective arthroscopic debridment – was discussed immediately post procedure and scheduled prior to the patient leaving the office.
